This Cookie Policy explains how VapeTax (https://vapetax.co.uk) uses cookies and similar technologies when you use our service. VapeTax is operated by Qode Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (company number 17259547), whose registered office is at Liberty House, 30 Whitchurch Lane, Edgware, England, HA8 6LE.
VapeTax is a business tool that keeps only what it needs to run. We use a single, essential cookie to keep you signed in, and nothing else. We do not use analytics, advertising or any third-party tracking cookies. This policy sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains in more detail how we handle your personal data.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. When you return to the site, your browser sends the cookie back, which lets the site recognise your session. Cookies can be "strictly necessary" (needed to run the service you asked for) or non-essential (for example, analytics or advertising). VapeTax only uses one strictly-necessary cookie and no non-essential cookies at all.
2. The cookies we use
We set exactly one cookie. It is strictly necessary to keep you securely signed in, and it is set as an httpOnly cookie, which means it cannot be read by JavaScript running in your browser.

We do not use any analytics, advertising or third-party tracking cookies. There are no cookies from advertising networks, social media platforms or analytics providers, and we do not use cookies to build a profile of you or to track you across other websites.
3. Local storage
As well as the cookie above, the VapeTax app uses your browser's localStorage to hold two small pieces of information:
- a short-lived access token that authorises your requests to the app while you are signed in; and
- your cookie-consent choice, stored under the key
vt_cookie_consent, so we remember whether you have accepted.
localStorage is not a cookie. Unlike a cookie, it is not sent to our servers with every request and stays on your device. It is used only to operate the app on the device you are using.
4. Your consent & choices
When you first visit VapeTax, we show a short banner asking you to Accept or Decline cookies. Because the only cookie we use — vt_refresh — is strictly necessary to sign you in and run the service, it is not possible to use the app without it.
This means the banner acts as a cookie wall for the application itself: if you decline, you will not be able to sign in to or use the VapeTax app, because the essential session cookie is required for it to function. However, these policy pages and our other public information remain fully readable whether or not you accept, so you can review this Cookie Policy, our Privacy Policy and our Terms & Conditions before deciding.
To change your choice later, clear the stored consent (the vt_cookie_consent entry in your browser's localStorage, or your site data for vapetax.co.uk). The banner will then appear again the next time you visit, and you can accept to continue using the service.
5. Managing cookies in your browser
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, delete existing cookies, or be warned before a cookie is set. The exact steps differ between Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge and other browsers, so please refer to your browser's help pages.
Please note that VapeTax only sets one strictly-necessary cookie. If you block or delete it, the service will not function: you will be signed out and will not be able to sign back in until the cookie is allowed again. There are no optional cookies to switch off, because we do not set any.
6. Changes & contact
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time — for example, if we change how the service works or to reflect legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
